Just checking: in any system capable of booting Windows 8 with this feature, only Microsoft, a US-based limited liability corporation competing in many market segments, can have an opinion on whether option roms are trustworthy? That sounds like a real strategic marketing winner.

And shouldn't they be having a word with RSA about PR-catastrophic failure modes? Far better to fail in some way you can blame the users.
