Most EFI implementations will continue to have a BIOS compatibility module for the forseeable future. There's no generic one out there, but it wouldn't be too difficult to implement something like SeaBIOS on top of EFI.
Grub's efiemu is there to emulate enough EFI on a BIOS system to let some EFI-only operating systems boot.
