Just did a complete install of Fedora 17 on my Macbook Pro via USB flash drive I created using sudo dd if=Fedora-17-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso of=/dev/disk3. In my case, I used rEFInd found at http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/ as my boot loader. Worked great!
