I find that very hard to believe when you factor in the public's outcry on this issue. I believe that a strong unified stance by all major Linux distro vendors, the FreeBSD guys, and whomever else can be mustered, coupled to a raging, vocal minority of users who actually care about using their hardware the way they want to, would surpass Microsoft's pull.
Hardware vendors want to do what's right too. They just can't do it alone. They need our help.
