It has always been confusing to me as to why getting access to information about hardware (and I guess firmware too) is so hard. Surely this information exists, otherwise the engineering people behind the scenes would be working in the dark all the time. It is really that hard to make it accessible? Or is this another one of those counter intuitive benefits "intellectual property" apparently brings to society?
