With all due respect to posters on this topic. Whether Ted was arguing right or wrong statistics in what he posted, or what was his original presentation, is entirely irrelevant. Rape IS rape no matter how you want to argue situations or semantics to justify bad behaviour. The point I would make is simply this... Ted chose to get involved in the Open Source Community, and indeed became a "leader" of sorts, based upon his technical prowess no doubt. In that role he assumed not only to support the bits of software he supports, the open source community concept, also the intimated responsibilities of a leader. While I think that Ted points out some valid concerns over statistics, one being they are easily manipulated to garner the desired outcome, I don't think his choice of subject was a good one since it overshadows any potential value he may have attempted to reveal about bad statistics. Mat is correct in his stance simply because Rape, in any form, is plain wrong behaviour that needs to be totally eliminated from our society.
