Not an isolated case

This kind of behavior is unfortunately representative, not only of a number of other FLOSS developers, but of a very large part of the population.

People tend to minimize what rape is, they tend to argue that victims are lying (although only a very marginal minority is lying), they tend to minimize the amount of rape that’s going on in our society. All categories of people tend to do that: this includes women, this even includes victims themselves (as Ted fails to point out, they fail to recognize their own story as rape).

In a recent trial here in France, several men recognized guilty of gang rape for several months have been sentenced by a popular jury to a suspended sentence of 3 years in jail. This jury thinks like Ted. Society thinks like Ted.
