Well, Ted, I understood your points just from reading the links mjg put in his post. And you're right, you should certainly regret having stepped into that minefield, although what you said did not seem in any way to be "rape apologism" to me.
mjg has recently noticed that he has long been a privileged male who was consistently ignoring the social burden carried by women in his community. He's understandably shocked and has resolved to do better, but unfortunately he's not very good at being sensitive yet. Don't worry, he's a smart guy, he'll eventually find a way to be more centered than either Martial or Dworkin.

Our mission, therefore, is to confront ignorance with knowledge, bigotry with tolerance, and isolation with the outstretched hand of generosity." Have you considered that you could accomplish more by fighting fire with water than by fighting fire with fire? When you boycott an event, you give up all ability to influence what is said there.
