If somehow (accidental? deliberate?) MJG's shim was put on a blacklist, even for a very short time, users can switch to SuSE's version of the same software. Also vice versa. The redundancy only works though if the two version sof the software work well together. That probably seems like too much extra work to coordinate, but would earn both MJG and SuSE a lot of goodwill in the unlikely even it was actually needed.
