Different anon here, but you've gotta be joking? If someone else is devoting their time to pursue a different way of doing things, *they're following the open source spirit*.
They want things to behave differently, so they're putting development effort in to make it work the way they want it to. Good on them!
Any other attitude stinks of monoculture, and doesn't belong in FOSS.
