Well, that's a somewhat separate issue. I've no objection to display managers implementing standardised interfaces where it's possible to do so without compromising features that the desktops want. But I think the correct approach there is to work out what the standardised interface is, rather than just implementing a different one for every DM (LightDM adds its own dbus interface for this)
