If you're running Xfce then it makes more sense to run Xfce-power-manager, yes. And if you always have your machine automatically log in from the desktop manager then there's no real benefit in having the behaviour at the desktop manager mimic that of your desktop. But in that case there's also no real point in running a desktop manager, so it's still not a reason to favour LightDM.
