Each and every time I hear the old "we're all in open source here, let's just be friends" line I know for sure it's either from an idiot who should just go back to playing in his sand pit or a shill trying to defuse some negative PR. Forming an knee-jerk, much-simpler-than-reality opinion is emotionally appealing to many (it let's them punt of having to think) but it sure ain't fooling those who have a horse in the race.
