I'm looking to buy a new laptop for school. I need some version of windows to test my code on, but I don't trust a computer with win8 preinstalled. I don't like the idea of a piece of windows software standing between my os and firmware. BIOS always came from the manufacturer, I think. Who writes the UEFI for these systems, and how can I tell where it came from?
