The comment just contained a relating of my experience meeting her, and talking about how I thought of her as a comp sci hero.

I got hellbanned!

I can only figure that one of the moderators had another post in that thread, which was getting most of the karma until I made mine, which was more popular than his.

So he "took me out" for the "crime" of making a more popular comment!

This is the only possible reason as prior to this comment I didn't have an account and made a new account to share that experience.
