Indeed. Assuming that people only work on sexy things when basically even the most simple tasks require lots of unsexy work is extremely off the mark.
Sure, a lot of the younger developers are only interested in making shiny iOS or Android apps, but there are a lot of developers who work on operating systems, servers, programming languages, desktop software, etc.
