And also I totally agree. Courteous, or one might even say professional, interaction is not a contradiction to having a technical argument. And even to the extent where the technical argument would ultimately lead to trashing of a feature. No need for personal attacks in such a case.
However, what Matthew points out is that the communication style overall is simply detrimental to the community.
A sentiment that has apparently led to a shortage of maintainers, too. Because stress from the responsible position of being maintainer is one thing, putting up with poisoned communication is another.
