It's a pity that what is, for the most part, a well-argued opinion contains no context at all.
One paragraph about the issue, with links both to the Debian discussion (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=819703) and the thread on Jamie Zawinski's blog (https://www.jwz.org/blog/2016/04/i-would-like-debian-to-stop-shipping-xscreensaver/) would have provided at least some context.
Else, the post is very insular; only a minority can understand the provocation that led to the post.
Also, running a spellchecker before posting would be a good idea; for example, "disasterous" would be spelt correctly as "disastrous".
