You can hit Ctrl+Alt+Fx to open a terminal, but if you can log into that terminal as someone who can kill the screen locker, you could have unlocked the screen. If someone's left it logged in, that's their own mistake outside the scope of screen locking.

If you left the back door open, the lock is useless.
