This article mention security issues that might negatively impact users however since the management engine is meant to remove the control of the computer from the user (DRM, Security, etc) security vulnerabilities in it are not necessary a bad thing especially if they enable users to take back the control of their computer by running fully free software operating systems on the management engine.

The same apply to users of Apple IOS devices where users also benefit from security flaws as it enables them to take back the control of their device (trough jailbreak) and/or replace the system (with IDroid for instance).
