Re: Forgiveness in the community

Note, just to be clear, I'm not referring to any of the specific cases listed in any of the other above comments. I personally agree that certain cases are severe enough to warrant exclusion from a project. For my comments, the overall blog post got me to thinking about development communities in general. It's quite often, for example, that members of a community might post to a social media platform not related to the project. If they were to post something off on there that ended up going contrary to the project's stated goals, how and even should they be punished? Should there be an avenue for the community to eventually forgive and allow the excluded member to then return to the project? Under what conditions? This raises more general philosophical questions as well, thus my external links on philosophy.
