This is a misrepresentation of the claim against Amazon.
Nobody is reprimanding Amazon for merely "mak[ing] money from Redis without contributing back", nor for making money from, say the Linux Kernel, or Python, or any other Free Software they are using for their service. That is taken for granted, and by the same token, Redis is not expected to give back to GCC.
The claim is that Amazon's behavior towards Redis, Elastic, Mongo etc. is predatory. That they're not just making a profit from these projects, they're also attacking their main supporters, cutting down the main source of funding for the projects.
I'm sure Amazon uses plenty of Redis in their control and management systems, thereby making money off Redis without doing harm to the project. Nobody would object to that, and that is the correct analogue to Redis' use of the Linux Kernel.
