What is Intellectual Property?

Interesting that all of this discussion is surrounding something that is an invention of government: Intellectual Property. The fact is, once you release information into society, it belongs to society to do with as it wishes. Intellectual Property law seeks to compensate creator's, while enshrining this truth in its pages. As it has become out of hand due mostly to influence of corporate copyright and patent holders - something that was never intended by the way - we seek to offset the error with things like open-source and free software.

It's difficult or impossible to get out of the spider web by spinning more webs. Maybe it is better to just let our ideas out into the wild and trust in the rain to fall on the just as well as the unjust.
