The main reason to want to open the gate is for package delivery, so there's some legitimate utility to it. I actually just added automated blinds - they speak the standard Zigbee blind protocol, so they work out of the box with Home Assistant and have no cloud dependencies. But it does still involve some amount of manual fiddling that I can understand people not being keen on, and the return on investment can definitely be argued about.
