SDCP is, sadly, only driver API level rather than protocol level - implementing it in non-Windows operating systems still requires vendor-specific knowledge that probably involves reverse engineering the drivers. And while it gives you a secure communications channel it doesn't provide an easy mechanism for asking the biometric device to associate a secret with a fingerprint.
