Wonder if there is any more undiscovered or unreported examples of simialr hex constants
OMG what a scandal, *babefee1* (whatever that might be). Thanks the good lord we have you to spare the remaining world of this gross insult and lead us on the right path m(
Having just come from an event (only nerd related, not tech related) where a guy was relating how he got slapped on the ass, turned around, and the guy who did it went "oh shit" when he realized the slap-ee was male instead of female, and thus had NOT just copped a babe feel, fuck off.
As can be seen from http://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=(babefee1|B16B00B5|0B00B135|deadbeef)
* perl has most 'deadbeef' occurences
* Other occurences are all found in linux or duplicates of VMXNET3_{REV1,SHARED}_MAGIC
Have fun with codesearch.debian.net ! :)

perl isn't offensive until your sexual attraction is about necro-zoophilia.
Matthew, you seem to be a really bored guy...
Have you considered posting a patch to checkpatch.pl? You could use the same trick of representing the numbers in decimal in the checkpatch source, and convert the hex constants to decimal when checking their values.
Keep it up, man. This could be a lucrative schtick for you.
Is the guy in counseling now? The whole experience must have been traumatic.
I'm so tired of this political correctness. F/OSS used to be fun. Where did all the fun go?
Oh yes, we buried ourselves in crap and forgot why we started doing F/OSS in the first place.

Along these lines I always found it odd that libwnk was named as it was; but a bit of google tells me it's meant to be pronounced with a missing 'i' instead of the 'a' ... I imagine.
Still can't stop reading it as though it's missing an a though.

It's offensive to Hindu (sacred cow)
Choosing this kind of hex constant tends to mark one as not having grown out of being the kind of horrible little boy who giggles at the result of multiplying 13844502 by four and turning the calculator upside down. (I speak here as someone who was that kind of horrible little boy when I was 14.)
seems like the comments on this blog entry are a good example of how bad the situation really is. everybody who thinks that how you name your constants, variables and functions does not matter is basically not a very experienced programmer. and everybody who thinks that the name of a variable or constant is as good as any to make a sexist joke, is simply someone who has not been potty-trained yet.
Something like 12.5% of humanity have been raped, and that without counting raped men mind you. That's huge, very huge. So I understand when someone like Garret do these offence hunt, that helps a lot.
Genuine question and not trolling:
what constitute unacceptable offence and who decide who risk to be offended by what subject?
Is B19B00B5 offensive to women because it use usually sexualised women body part?
Is B19D1C5 equally offensive to men? to all men? Not to me anyway so i can not judge.
Do you personally feel offended by any of them? Are there equally women and men who feel offended by sexualised content and what in sexualised content is so offending to them?
Maybe only a small small part of the audience feels offended by sexualised image and making such noise about them would be unreasonable.
I ask again honestly:
Who in the kernel context feels offended?
I, as a modern european, do not feel that the mere evocation of boobs is offensive to women nor that equivocating penises would be to men and vice versa( i am not offended to read about penises nor boobs).
Honestly is sex such a taboo that you can not even remotely picture it in you mind without feeling offended, or is that just women? Is there a presupposition that sex is offending to women and that's it?
I can just guess but am serious in asking these question, as far as i understand the kernel is still partly business sponsored and volunteer supported so such "no sex here that's unprofessional seems excessive to me". If you can explain to me that it is not a business practice but really a no-offense practice then who decide what is offensive to whom?

No, I haven't.
Have you?
Have you?
I would say the "small weak nerdy leftist" would describe it and this is why i use Linux. I know that I am very lucky not be a black woman with disabilities but again, who decide what is correct to use or not in the kernel context?
You could replace offended by "feeling discriminated" in my preceding post and still would have to explain to me why sex reference are discriminating (I personally relate kernel dev to be fun, as sex does) and to whom (are really women though to be naturally to one being discriminated against by sex references).
Racist comments are automatically discriminating against races and I hate that. In my country you can not do plublic "hate speech" without beeing prosecuted, and i respect that. I would fight against a total free speech in the american way wich allows such attacks on preferences, race, religion and what constitute integrity of a person. However I do not see sex automatically being discriminating as both genre usually enjoy it.
So how so that sexual references becomes discrimination? And what is this group beeing discriminated?
So again in the open space that Kernel dev is, who decide what is offending/discriminating?
and just to be sure, Is DEADBEAF really offending to Hindus?
