Hello! I am not posting here any more. You can find me here instead. Most Planets should be updated already (I've an MR open for Planet Gnome), but if you're subscribed to my feed directly please update it.

Does it have an RSS feed I could import here? I can't immediately find one!

I thought "surely it must, because what else would that Planet Gnome MR use?". So I found the MR in question, which gives the URL https://codon.org.uk/~mjg59/blog/index.xml, which looks like RSS to me.

And here it is: looks like someone else already added it :)

Ah, apparently the way one is supposed to find this out is by spotting this piece of metadata in the <head> of the HTML blog page, invisible in a browser unless you view source, but easy to extract automatically if you're software:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" href="https://codon.org.uk/~mjg59/blog/index.xml" title="mjg59" />

Presumably standard blog subscription systems take this in their stride, by being willing to accept either the RSS or the HTML version, and in the latter case, looking for that link.

(... maybe DW does too, and you and I just didn't know it?)

If I just chuck https://codon.org.uk/~mjg59/blog/ into the Feed URL box here:

https://www.dreamwidth.org/feeds/

It doesn't recognise this as being the existing feed, and offers to create a new one, whether it would *work* is another question, but I'm not going to try with this one.

I am curious to know why you're migrating.

(No judgement, just wondering if there's something impending I should be taking account of)
